About the Owner: Monique Matthews

Hello! My name is Monique Matthews. I was born and raised in Oceanside, CA and I’ve been in the hair industry for a little over a decade! I went to Oceanside College of Beauty (RIP) in 2012 after studying photography at Palomar for a year and realizing that was not actually my passion… little did I know hair was! After getting licensed, I went on to assist in a salon in Fallbrook for about one year before really getting behind the chair on my own. I specialize in, and am obsessed with, blonding, highlights, balayage, and full bleach outs, but also enjoy a rich brunette or “bronde”, a good challenging color correction and a bold fashion color. I got certified for permanent makeup/microblading in 2020, which I also really have a passion for, and pushed me to branch out on my own as a salon owner. After starting with my own small Sola studio for one year, I opened Dye Craft Hair Salon in downtown Encinitas on September 1st, 2022 as a full salon, and am so excited to watch my dream continue to come true and grow. When I’m not working behind the chair you can find me hanging out with my hubby and our three kids at their Jiu Jitsu, snowboarding, walking the beach, tent camping, or me geeking out on my hair social media.
